Physics beyond academia
From current research to a broader audience
Public lectures and colloquia are an important part of my outreach activity. They offer an opportunity to present some of the questions driving current research in cosmology and fundamental physics while keeping the underlying physical ideas accessible to a broad scientific audience.
This recent colloquium is an example of that approach, connecting modern questions about the early Universe with the broader theoretical framework in which they arise.

From January to September 2022, I was responsible for Outreach & Communication activities at the Center for Astrophysics and Gravitation (CENTRA) of Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon.
Together with Joan Bachs-Esteban, Matteo Piani and Giorgio Laverda, I created CENTRAnswers, an initiative designed to answer questions about astrophysics, gravity and cosmology in a direct and accessible way.

I also collaborate with Many Body Physics, an interdisciplinary science communication project bringing together researchers from different areas of physics.
The project provides an informal space for discussing scientific ideas, research and the experience of working in physics beyond the boundaries of individual subfields.

I participate in public engagement activities developed in collaboration with schools, associations and municipalities, adapting the scientific content and format to different audiences.
Making difficult ideas accessible
For me, outreach is closely connected to teaching: understanding how to explain a difficult idea clearly often reveals something important about the idea itself.
