About me
I am a theoretical physicist working at the interface of particle physics and cosmology. Since September 2022, I have been a Ramón y Cajal Researcher at the Department of Theoretical Physics of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and a member of the Institute of Particle and Cosmos Physics (IPARCOS).
My research explores how fundamental physics shaped the history of the Universe, from inflation and the violent dynamics that followed it to the origin of dark matter, dark energy, and cosmological gravitational waves. I am particularly interested in inflation and reheating, electroweak vacuum stability, cosmological phase transitions, gravitational-wave production, and the role that symmetries such as scale invariance may play in connecting physics across vastly different energy scales.
A recurring theme in my work is the search for observable traces of high-energy physics in the cosmos: how processes taking place at energies far beyond the reach of terrestrial experiments can leave signatures in the expansion history of the Universe, its particle content, or the stochastic gravitational-wave background.
Before moving to Madrid, I was an FCT Assistant Researcher at the Center for Astrophysics and Gravitation (CENTRA), Instituto Superior Técnico—University of Lisbon. I previously held postdoctoral positions at the Helsinki Institute of Physics, the Institute of Theoretical Physics of Heidelberg University, and the Laboratory of Particle Physics and Cosmology at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne. I obtained my Master’s and Ph.D. degrees from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.
I also enjoy teaching, working with students, and turning difficult ideas into something clear and intuitive. Beyond academia, I take part in public engagement activities aimed at bringing modern cosmology and fundamental physics to a broader audience.
